How to become a Model
So you want to become a model? One of the key parts of recognizing what is involved in becoming a model is making the right choice about how you present yourself. To start with you should find out what area of modeling you are right for. If you want to be a fashion or runway model, you should be tall, skinny, and very attractive. It will help if you have confidence, great communication skills, most importantly, patients. The age start from 14 and goes towards 21 give or take a few here and there. You have to keep in mind that the fashion industry requires you to be perfect because at the end of the day, it's their product that will be shown on you. Don't worry if can't meet all of the criteria because there are other modeling jobs out there such as magazines, tv commericials, castings for films and even children modeling.
Print models on the other hand do not have such a tight criteria. This is because the companies are looking for real people to model for their product ads, store advertisements, and clothings. A lot of kids and teens are generally focused for this type of modeling. If you were to pick up your local flyer for JC Penny, Sears, Kmart, Wal-Mart, you'll notice that these types of department store use people that are more average.
Now you have to remember, if you have the looks and all the criteria of a super model, how come you aren't getting the necessary attention? Well that is the key question. Sometime, the key is being at the right time at the right place. Or simply it maybe because you got the nerve to get up and do something about it. There are hundereds of others that are trying to do the same time but you have to make yourself be known an make an effort to get out and do something about it. You need to put your self at work and do something about it. Look in local newspapers, check out online casting calls such as the ones here at IamAnArtist.com. One of the most important thing you can do is have confidence and faith in yourself. Don't be overly conscience about your looks and don't get scared because there are others that may overpower you.
You have to remember, there have been soo many pagents and modeling shows with many MISS WORLDS/MISS UNIVERSE's that have disappeared and no one knows what happened to them and then there are those that have scandals and keep doing their thing.
You have only a set of years to make your mark and so you have to make sure that this career is your passion and your life. If you don't, the thing is your youth doesn't last forever, and soon modeling agents start to look for younger models. So make the best of it and give it all that you have. Read my previous post on how to become an actor and you will see the necessary steps you would take as an actor. Similiarly a model has to go through the same. Only a model has limited time.
I wish you best of luck and do let me know your progress and where you are in your career as you put your passion at hard work.

How to become an Actor
Alot of people believe that acting is all about being or portraying someone else and that it can only come from within you. They believe that you are born with it. The truth in the real world is that you can learn it by proper training and constantly practicing. There are millions of actors across the globe but only a handful of them are true exceptional people that let out their talents. And those that do are easily grabbed by hollywood. You're probably asking your self, do you have it in you? If it's in you and you have the determination, then you have what it takes to be grabbed by hollywood.
There are some that will take the short cut but most will fail miserably. You need to be focused and keep at it because persistence will pay off at the end. How do you think most people in hollywood made it? Not everyone is lucky to have their first break in a huge budgeted film. How likely is that for the every day person? Not so. So what you have to do is keep trying and if you read further you'll see how to achive this.
Where should you start? Well, for the most part, a good education in arts and theatre helps. If you're short on cash, there's other ways that you can still get an education as well as learn the basic techniques. Do some reasearch on the internet for your local areas. Don't start by buying a ticket to LA and expect to
find something there right away. There's thousads of people already ahead of you.
By going local, you get the experience, the knowledge, and a few contacts.
One of the things that came across in my years is: "The Learning Annex" I came across many actors/actresses that were trying to make their big break but didn't have the money to learn different things in respect to the film industry. So they dished out $25-$100 dollars to get some basic knowledge through the learning annex and met so many contacts through that. Now many of you might not have the resources like that in your area, so you should try to go and find something locally.
A great place to start is craigslist.org . You can find many casting jobs and auditions to what you see here on IamAnArtist.com as well as find training facilities that teach you the basics of acting and the film production industry. By far if you have the resources to get a formal education, you should certainly take that into consideration first and foremost. This type of education will teach you the fundementals of acting and history of acting and the various types of techniques.
It not only provides rich history but gives you the formal training to perform in front of a live audience. You don't need to move to LA :) You can simply start by local performance houses or your local church. It's a great starting experience and will give you enough confidence.
You may not get the money upfront but that's not what it's about in the begining. You need to get your foot in the door. Talent agents, casting agents, are people just like you and me and they all attend church and local community events. You never know who you might run into one day. Go get your local news paper and start looking for opportunities. But before you do, you need to understand the auditing process as well. You can't simply walk in and try your luck. It's tough because they'll be hundered others like you trying out for the same part. So be prepared and have yourself a good auditioning tape/DVD/resume. A demo reel is important when lookig to be casted. You might find that there aren't any local art houses or theatres in your area. This might lead you to move else where, if you have the resources, that would be great, otherwise you'll need to get yourself a camera and a few friends of yours to help you shoot your dramatic scenes.
As you continue to practice and keep that effort going, you will see yourself improve. After you gain a little bit more confidence, you may try moving to bigger cities like NY and LA. You will find jobs easily as long as your talent is kept up to date. You'll soon learn the ins and outs of the industry as well as establish new contacts. At this point, you should think about joining a Union, such as the Screen Actors Guild. These guilds have higher wages for their members so it certainly helps you out.
Best thing to do at this point, is to keep look out for casting calls, auditions in your local newspaper, or website. And continue your efforts along this route and you will be on your way ...
Good luck on your success in becoming an actor.

Is IMDB.com really accurate?
Good evening fellow readers. Tonight, I'll be talking about imdb.com . I recently came across something that really disturbed me. To me imdb.com has become an addiction. I look for things on it all the time thinking, I'll find out all the movies that an actors been in and what they're currently signed up with. Now, I know they try to do everything in their power to keep it as accurate as possible, but I recently came across an individual that has been fooling a lot of people.
I won't mention any names or point any links just to be discreet. After reading a couple of emails and posts across multiple forums for actors and producers, I found what this person is really doing.
After some dirt digging, I found out that this person whom I will will call "John", has only one film that he's directed and it's horrible. There is so much negativity behind it and it went streight to dvd. It never had a chance. Since then, he's been promoting it, trying to get people to invest in him etc...
What he did was, made many connections and found a reporter/news column writer. He made a deal with the person, had an article published on a third party website stating that an A listed star/actor is attached to his next project and that it's rumored that he's got $1million dollars budget already.
By doing this, he was able to submit his title on IMDB because apparently IMDB will most likely approve the submission based on validation of a third party source. Once it was on imdb.com then he started promoting his next project that he's in negotiations to attach an A listed actor to his next project and that he's looking for investors.
Now random investors who aren't really into the film industry or know anything about film production, will think that he will make a lot of money by going with this director or individual who's got a great project and whola, he's just scamed a poor guy into investing into a project for which he never had any money for.
You may think that oh, that's not too bad. That's just the way hollywood probably runs by getting money that's not yours. True that may be so, but it's just another thing that film investors who are new to the industry to watch out for. Everyone nowadays knows imdb.com and they expect it to be reputable, and it maybe, but the information, at the end of the day is supplied by the end user .... ..

So what's going ON?
As the kick off of this blog, everyone wants to know what's going on everywhere? Everyone is looking for something. Whether it be looking ways to make money, finding a better job, finding your passions, or simply looking for the sake of looking to see what's around. LOL
Wow, you must thing what the h*&K is all that about? What am I saying?
Ok, let's focus on the entertainment industry, specifically acting. What's going on with actors and actresses these days? Even they're struggling to make a few bucks. Some are even trying too hard by doing stupid things and making headlines. Will that get them roles in movies? Perhaps, if it's not negative.
Many people asked me "how do I become an actor?". There's no easy answer to that. First off studying to become an actor is one thing. Looking and analyzing a particular film and its character could definetly help. People want to jump in to acting without studying it. Some get lucky and some struggle. Many of these people don't know a thing about acting. For example, "method acting" or "method actor".
I recently came across a person who wanted to make a film but doesn't know anything about it. He worked hard for about 3 months, reading up on filmmaking and taking online free courses, and doing free gigs that he found looking for casting calls. To make a story short, he's making commercials for large studios now. In a matter of couple of months. Just because he pursued it throughly.
Anyhow, i kinda wondered on a bit .... kinds of things i'll be talking about in this blog. You get the idea.
Pretty soon, i'll be talking about Owen Wilson and how he just got canned from a film directed by ben stiller . .. and how theres a film shooting going on in NYC. How to get access to such details. ...
so stay tuned.......
